EDGE Maui 2021 Continuing Education

December 2-3 and December 6-7, 2021

Travel Restrictions Update

We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to keep you posted, but we fully intend to move forward with the conference. The governor of Hawaii has initiated a temporary order regarding social gatherings and events that remains in place until Oct 18, 2021. No one can predict what will happen after Oct 18, but we will remain vigilant and keep you informed. We will also do some webinars to go over the details of how to enjoy the conference and update travel rules.

We are prepared for a number of contingencies.

Our conference room capacity is 460 so if a 50% occupancy limitation is placed on the event, we are well within the restriction to do the class for all of our students. A second option; because we have the conference rooms all day, we are also able to offer both a morning and afternoon session if necessary. A plan "C" if necessary is to simulcast using YouTube and Zoom if we have to take classes on the beach.

Here are some of the current restrictions:

  • While there are some restrictions on large gatherings at hotels we are providing documentation to Maui county regarding our event. The counties review proposals for all professionally sponsored events for more than 50 people to ensure that appropriate safe practices will be implemented and we are working with them to define our protocols. We have the space in the conference room to accommodate the restrictions and will move forward.
  • Hotel events will require masks indoors for all participants regardless of vaccination status, we are set up to use Zoom as a delivery option for those that want to take classes outdoors or in their rooms, we will also record the classes prior to the event and place links on the Event Page so you can take the classes before traveling.

Travel into the State of Hawaii

"Travelers entering the state from the U.S. and its Territories who have been fully vaccinated in the United States (including its Territories) may bypass quarantine without a pre-travel test. The vaccination record document must be uploaded to Safe Travels and printed out prior to departure and the traveler must have a hard copy in hand when arriving in Hawaiʻi. The State of Hawai‘i will also accept vaccine records that are digitally validated by Digital Health Pass Partners (AZOVA, CLEAR and CommonPass). Travelers who use one of the State’s partners to link their digitally validated vaccine records with Safe Travels may enjoy expedited processing at the airport (no secondary visual inspection of paper vaccine records).

"Travelers wishing to use the pre-travel test to bypass quarantine must have a negative result from a test taken from a Trusted Testing and Travel Partner no more than 72 hours BEFORE beginning the final leg of their trip. Anyone without a negative test result or U.S. vaccination PRIOR to departure must quarantine upon arrival. The State of Hawai‘i will also accept test results that are digitally validated by Digital Health Pass Partners.

"The negative test result must be uploaded onto Safe Travels or printed out prior to departure and hard copy in hand when arriving in Hawai‘i."

Regarding indoor activities

You can eat outdoors at restaurants regardless of your vaccination status. Vaccinated individuals need to follow the protocols set forth on travel.hawaii.gov to obtain a QR code for restaurants in order to eat indoors. (It is highly recommended you make reservations at restaurants which can be done through Open Table. https://www.opentable.com/)

Rental Cars

There have been many cancellations on the island and it is recommended you get your rental car as soon as possible and if you already have a reservation to recheck for new pricing in case demand is forcing cheaper rates.

Because cars are expensive, we are providing a ride-share program sponsored by AlaskaUSA.

We will be launching an event page next week with updates on travel rules and will provide updates as things evolve. We are building an entire transportation section to make ground travel coordination options easy to find, ranging from public transportation options to a robust Ride-Share program, with signups for those that want to participate in the Ride-Share program as drivers or riders. Drivers can win great prizes for participating.

Our event page next week will have all the links so you can come back to them, but in the meantime here are some local car rental suggestions.

Hotel rooms and cars are extremely limited. We certainly have been working hard, and continue to do so, to secure rooms for our students. If you need a room please let us know.

Our policy for HI has always been that we do not issue refunds but will transfer your registration to a live course or correspondence. This is true no matter what the circumstances are around your inability to attend the class.

We will stay in close contact with you as we get closer to the event and know more details.
