License Renewal Fraud Consequences:

I was talking to Tony Marriage at the Alaska Real Estate Commission regarding reports the real estate commission is already receiving, regarding false renewal information that they will be looking into.  You should know how risky this deception is.

Notice the warning on the license renewal form that states as per Alaska statute 11.56.210 “any person who knowingly furnishes false or fraudulent information in this application is subject to imprisonment for not more than one year, a fine of not more than $5000, or both.”

Also per 12 AAC 64.160, Making false or fraudulent representation or material misstatements on an application for license, renewal, or examination is grounds for revocation, suspense or denial of a license.    This is also a clear violation of the REALTOR code of Ethics.

If you have misstated your information on your license renewal and work with a group of fellow agents to lie and mislead, you are not only breaking the law but are also committing conspiracy.  If   2 or 20 people sworn to the truth in an investigation lie, and just one refuses to commit perjury, all perjuring themselves have entrapped themselves into a serious matter.

Don’t participate in breaking the law.  Do the right thing and honor the requirements the state requires.  The real estate commission has been informed of specific instances and will be following up at the end of the cycle, when correcting the fraud will be too late. 

With room in classes both this weekend and next week, it is not to late to get your CE done.
